      No, I never applied. There is a selection process to become an ESA Astronaut.

      No, I wouldn’t want to be an astronaut as the training is too long and consumes your life for years! And I don’t really fancy spending months on the ISS either. Not that I think I would be selected for an astronaut candidate anyway as it is so hard to get in.

      I’d love to go to space when space tourism starts going though, and you can just go for a few hours or a few days, and not have to do loads of training first. I’d love to see the Earth from above, and the moon floating above you, and the curvature of the Earth with the black of space above 🙂

      Part of me is excited by the idea of human exploration, but in terms of science I think we will achieve most with autonomous robots and artificial intelligence.

      No; only some things I have worked on for robotic missions have gone into space (and probably to places humans won’t ever go to!).
