Black cat theory : Mechanical Engineering is like looking for a black cat in a light room. Chemical Engineering is like looking for a black cat in a dark room. Software Engineering is like looking for a black cat in a dark room, while the cat is not there. Systems Engineering is like looking for a black cat in a dark room, while the cat is not there, and then someone yells: “I’ve got it!”.

My favourite joke combines engineering with something else that I love – kittens.

Q: A litter of kittens are sliding down a sloping roof. Which one slides fastest?
A: The one with the lowest mew

(mu, pronounced “mew” is the symbol for the coefficient of friction, which is the term that controls how quickly a kitten (or anything else) on a sloping roof would slide)

It’s geeky and I love it.
